He built Western North Carolina's first ISP in 1995, then ran Farrington Development — an independent web, CRM and SEO agency — for twenty-plus years while his wife Marjorie ran WNC Times and he kept its tech alive. He now runs NewsroomAIOS, a platform operating 17 AI-powered local newspapers across 16 US markets, as a single operator with a human at every gate. It launches September 1, 2026.
